The Venue
Loon Lake Lodge and Retreat Centre is nested in the UBC Malcolm Knapp Research Forest — 5,000+ acres of old-growth Douglas fir and western red cedar in Maple Ridge, BC.
The lodge sits on the edge of a still mountain lake, surrounded by ancient forest. It's one of the most extraordinary natural settings in British Columbia — and it's entirely ours for the weekend.

Accommodation
Accommodation is included in your ticket. WCSS is a fully residential experience — you sleep, eat, and sweat all in the same place, which is part of what makes it special.
Loon Lake has a variety of room types. Room allocation is handled by the WCSS team after your application is accepted. We do our best to accommodate preferences — let us know if you have any requests.
All meals are included. Loon Lake serves hearty, wholesome food that fits the rhythm of a sauna weekend.
Getting There
Loon Lake is about an hour from Vancouver by car. We recommend renting a car, using Uber or arranging a carpool — the forest road to the lodge is part of the experience.
If you're flying in, YVR (Vancouver International Airport) is your closest airport.
Carpool chat will be open before the event starts.
What to Expect
WCSS is an immersive retreat, not a conference. Pack for the outdoors — warm layers and of course your sauna gear. The forest and the lake are both very much part of the programme.
The schedule includes sauna sessions, panels and workshops, shared meals, and long evenings by the fire. The best conversations happen when you're not rushing anywhere.
All abilities welcome. Let us know of any accessibility or dietary needs when you apply and we'll do our best to accommodate.
